Nice to meet you!

A family who loves to travel, currently living in the most beautiful part of the Netherlands,

the Southern part called 'Heuvelland'.

We are : Claudio, Kylie, Lanah Feliz, and Bernese Mountain Dog called Indy.

Travel, nature, food, hiking, relaxing and adventure... Our passion!

Before Lanah was born, we were already city-trippers, wintersports enthusiasts and seekers of sun, peace and quiet in the summer.

The perfect vacation-formula for us? A combination of being active and the posibility of relaxing and soul-searching in regions with mountains, hills, lakes, the sea, green nature, a friendly atmosphere, and of course, good food!

How it started

Winter 2019: Our dear Lanah arrived unexpectedly, but very much wanted, in November 2019 after a very difficult pregnancy and labour.

Just before we found out that we were pregnant we were seriously were considering

emigrating to Austria. We had made our plan and took actions to sell our house in NL.

But, the feeling changed when we found out we were expecting Lanah.

The plans were put 'on hold’ so that we could enjoy Lanah together with friends and family nearby.

We bought a new house in a new location in the Heuvelland region,

renovated it, and were ready to embark on our new adventure as a brand-new family.

However...

After three months, it was determined that Lanah's motor skills and muscle strength

were different from “normal” development.

After nine months of uncertainty, powerlessness, frustration, worry, and

many tests, we received a diagnosis 1 week before Lanah turned 1 :

Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy...

This marked the beginning of a period of extensive tests, involvement of various

agencies and many hospital admissions due to

complications from respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.

This was not the only “roller coaster” we found ourselves on:

We found ourselves on an emotional rollercoaster, full of uncertainty, powerlessness,

great sadness, frustration, disbelief, grief, and stress.

Our world collapsed...

We are grateful that we and those around us set our sights on a future focused

on possibilities, love, resilience, and positivity.

This meant that after two years, our world began to look very different:

We got used to the 'new reality' we found ourselves in as a family:

the hospitals, the authorities, the regular acute hospital admissions, and

the new ‘fluctuating’ structure within the family.

In addition, after a long ‘struggle’, the necessary facilities and medical aids

were realised in and around the house,

a wheelchair bus was purchased after a crowdfuncing,

and we were able to create

solutions for many impossibilities.

This does not mean that everything is now ‘smooth sailing’, not at all!

Every day, every week, every month, we still face issues,

injustices, misunderstandings, time-consuming appointments and obligations,

as well as financial, physical, and psychological challenges.

What makes the difference?

Lanah!

She lives her life to the fullest.

Always with a smile on her face.

No day goes by she doesn't say, “Mom and Dad, I love you.”

With her powerful, courageous, solution-oriented, loving,

and positive personality, she shows us the path to enlightment.

She turns the difficult and muddy hiking-trial into the most beautiful trail.

What about us..?

Over time, we have come to realize:

Lanah is our world, our Blossom Child, who came into our lives with a vision and a mission.

Through and with Lanah, we are making our journey to Santiago de Compostela.

A journey that was on our bucket list to walk physically, now with a deeper spiritual twist.

Across the rolling landscape as well as the rugged mountain ridges.

It's not easy, but it's definitely worth it!
